Wildlife crimes detecting training for students in Medan, North Sumatra
Joint with WCU, South Sumatra University (USU) carried out small training on March 3, 2010. Aim of the training is to increase skill of wildlife crimes detecting. Students are prospective agent for WCU to support wildlife crimes informations. Their wide range coverage of study will give more chance to detect illegal wildlife owner, trading, transporting, or hunting.
To support this, WCU trainer inroduced wildlife crimes modus to understand how criminals using special modus to avoid police and forest guard detection.
WCU also introduced Indonesian acts related with wildlife protection for their basic understanding, include list of protected wildlife, forestry act, and natural biodiversity conservation and ecosystem act. Trainer introduced basic investigation include how to got information, surveillance, safety procedure, and created local informants.
This training followed by 37 students from biology department. To follow up this training, WCU already distributed contact number for their wildlife crimes information. Next training will be held to increasing skill of identification on bird market and small training on wildlife parts identification.
